Zino Ventures, New Zealand's first Chinese Angel Fund, is launching a nation-wide start-up competition to encourage more immigrants to get involved in New Zealand's startup environment.
At our Techweek launch event, hear from both Zino Ventures investors and startup founders currently tackling Asian markets.
This event marks the launch of the competition for applicants, which will remain open for three months with a final selection in August. The competition is open to start-up businesses with at least one immigrant amongst the founding team. Additionally, if the company has the intention to take on the Chinese or Asian market, it would be appreciated. Our all-Chinese investors intend to leverage their network of investors and expertise to enable the selected start-ups to take on the Asian market.
The winner of the competition will be offered seed-round funding from Zino Ventures valued at up to NZD$100,000. Furthermore, there will be support for relocation to an incubation centre in addition to government support from China and Hong Kong for the grand prize winner. To top it all off, the chosen startup will also be given the opportunity to pitch their company at the 7th Annual New Zealand Angel Investment Showcase in September 2017, allowing them another opportunity to raise more capital.
