SpaceBase Co-founders Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom and Eric Dahlstrom will give an overview of the NZ Space Challenge and the current state of the New Zealand Space Ecosystem. A presentation showcasing the regional finalist for the NZ Space Challenge 2018 follows. The finalist, selected in early May, will go on to pitch for the $40k grand prize at the "Extreme Environments: From Antarctica to Space" event in Christchurch on 24 May.

The 2018 New Zealand Space Challenge (NZSpaceChallenge.com) is made possible in partnership with SpaceBase (SpaceBase.co) and ChristchurchNZ (ChristchurchNZ.com), in collaboration with numerous national and regional partners including the NZ Space Agency, Rocket Lab, Callaghan Innovations, Antarctica NZ, Christchurch Airport, COMNAP, Center for Space Science Technology, ARA Institute of Canterbury, GQ Law, ATEED, and Trimble.

SpaceBase is a social enterprise founded by three Edmund Hillary Fellows with deep knowledge and connections into the global space industry – Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom, Eric Dahlstrom and Rich Bodo. SpaceBase is creating an online collaborative platform to support entrepreneurs in emerging space industries – providing access to training, networking, technical services, and investment opportunities.

Speakers

Emeline Paat-Dahstrom is a Co-Founder of SpaceBase, faculty at Singularity University, and an Edmund Hillary Fellow. She has degrees in Physics and Space Science, has worked on several space startup companies, and is the co-author of the book, "Realizing Tomorrow: The Path to Private Space Flight"
Eric Dahlstrom is a co-founder of SpaceBase and an Edmund Hillary Fellow. Eric is a space engineer, astronomer, and consultant who has worked on spacecraft design and space science for 35 years, both for NASA and commercial space, and is chair of Space Science at International Space University.
