The Smart Cities Christchurch programme aims to bring communities, innovation and information together to create a better experience for people in Christchurch.

Since its inception in 2016, the programme have developed, trialled, and implemented a number of initiatives.  In an effort to promote awareness of these projects, the Smart Cities Christchurch programme will showcase these and a number of other smart initiatives.

In 2017, Smart Cities Christchurch inaugural’s Innovation Expo attracted 21 exhibitors and more than 1000 visitors, which was opened to selected attendees only.  This year, it will be held at a bigger location to accommodate more visitors.

The Innovation Expo is a non-ticketed event, and you can visit anytime between 10am – 4pm on Monday May 21 2018.

It will feature a selection of interactive exhibits from local and national innovators.  From cycling sentiment to seismic and level sensors, to augmented reality and autonomous vehicles - see how we are capitalising on the latest technology to improve people's urban experiences.

We invite stakeholders from local and national government, private organisations, business and tech sectors, students from tertiary and secondary schools, and Christchurch residents.

Through this expo, we aim raise awareness and stimulate conversation with city stakeholders to generate even more opportunities to make Christchurch a “Smart City”.
