Lockdown drove many New Zealanders into new, more digital ways of living and working. One of the first industries forced to pivot was retail. We look at how Auckland retailer Fine Wine Delivery has used AI to disrupt the industry and create a new experience for customers. We also question whether businesses need AI to survive as consumer expectations shift, and how global trends are being realised in New Zealand.
This Techweek TV session is aimed at Small to medium enterprise businesses that are starting to explore the use of AI in their business

Jeff Poole has a long standing career in the wine industry. After almost two decades in the industry across New Zealand and Australia, he and his wife Virginia founded Fine Wine Delivery from a spare bedroom at their then home in 1997.
The successful family business has grown to two retail locations in Auckland, as well as online. They launched finewinedelivery.co.nz in September 1998 and late last year launched their thirteenth iteration of the site, always adding new technologies. This time, the site includes IBM Watson powered Smart Search and a Virtual Assistant, as part of their commitment and focus on the customer experience.
Fine Wine Delivery has an inhouse tasting team devoted to that process tasting thousands of wines, craft beer and fine spirits annually, an experience they have also recreated online using AI.
