Brendan is passionate about technology and how it can help small businesses, and he has been involved in high growth businesses around the world throughout his career. Working with the SaaS tech ecosystem, advisory technology, and also banking technology, Brendan believes that the Fintech opportunity to help small businesses using data and AI is growing significantly. Originally from South Africa, Brendan spent 10 years in the UK and has made NZ his home since 2009.

Ric Thorpe

Ric Thorpe is one of the owners of Sidekick CA, Christchurch Chartered Accountants. Ric leads the 20 strong Christchurch team as well as assisting growth in the Sidekick group, which now has offices in 8 locations across the South Island, and over 60 staff members. Ric has been instrumental in fostering the incredible family-like team culture at Sidekick and helping grow the businesses by spreading the word of Fixed-Fee, Modern Accountancy across the country. Ric has also held a few roles in governance and strategy for not-for-profit organisations, membership organisations such as the Christchurch Business Club, as well as within the Sidekick Group.

An Executive Council Board member for FinTechNZ, Richard holds a Bachelor of Physical Science and Post Graudate Diploma in Science from The University of Auckland together with an Master of Business Administration from the Copenhagen Business School.
