Want to learn more about robots, but not sure where to start?
We are testing our prototypes for a research study in the Centre for Automation and Robotic Engineering Science (CARES) and you and your tamariki could help define the direction that this work takes. We are looking to tell the stories of inspirational Māori voyagers with the aid of small mBot robots. This will teach tamariki basics in computational thinking, whilst learning about and connecting with Māori legends.
Follow parts of Te Haerenga o Kupe as he navigated around the Wairarapa and Te Whanganui-a-Tara in pursuit of Te Wheke o Muturangi. The robots will read and follow your directions to take you to key places on the map and in the story.
We are running two sessions, so ensure that you have booked the correct session. Please book a ticket for each person (children and caregivers) who will be attending.
This event is aimed at tamariki aged 5-10, but all ages are welcome.
Please do not attend the session if you feel unwell or have recently tested positive for COVID-19.
