Inspiring the Future Aotearoa

Expressions of interest have now closed for this event, but you can volunteer to be a role model at other events by signing up at inspiringthefuture.org.nz

Inspiring the Future is a programme that connects students with the world of work at fun and inspiring events. The aim is to broaden young people’s career horizons and challenge stereotpyes that can hold them back.

We are looking for expressions of interest from the tech industry to have a kōrero about your job, why you love it, and any challenges you have faced. We have two events:

+ Wednesday 18 May, 10am - 11am

+ Wednesday 25 May, 2.30pm - 3.20pm

The events are structured into:

+ Investigation. Students spend time asking questions to investigate your job and learn more about your pathway.

+ The pitch. Everyone comes together for a short pitch from all participants about who they are and what work they do.

+ Show and tell. Students choose which job they would like to learn more about in group breakout sessions where participants discuss their jobs in more detail.

We are looking for four role models per event and will work with teachers to choose a diverse range for each event. Click 'Register now' and follow the instructions to express your interest.

Resources to help you prepare are available, such as:

+ Step-by-step guide

+ Tips and tricks video

+ Facebook community group of volunteers who are involved with the programme

This video will convince you how worthwhile being involved in an Inspiring the Future event is.
