Introducing: Questionable Research Labs in Whangarei - an environment to expand and challenge the world of curious people. In the Labs, kids, teens and adults play with all things related to Science, Design and Engineering. It is a space for the geek, the maker and the breaker in us all – a community for budding engineers, designers and scientists.
We are offering science and creative tech groups for children and youth members aged between 8 and 18. Adult and teen weekend day and multi day events, as well as holiday programmes are also run with between 5 and 30 participants each, depending on the event.
In the lab you will find the members working on projects like motorizing a 3 seater couch, testing and reviewing pulse oximeters, building a countertop vaccine certificate scanning kiosk, working on autonomous robots, playing games, designing and printing things on the 3D printers, and importantly socialising – it’s a social, fun, techy play space.
When we are not locked down, our teens routinely head down to Auckland to participate in technology events aimed at university students and professionals. They also take part in international competitions like GovHack, a large Australian/NZ competition, to build apps that use open government data for social good.
