Expo 2020 concluded on the 31 March and despite the pandemic, saw 24 million visitors of which 1.24 million visited the New Zealand Pavilion and discovered our “Care for People and Place” story. The park itself featured some of the world’s most cutting-edge tech innovations in the different country pavilions and Expo conferences and events. All in all, it was a six-month extravaganza and a hive of activity that helped to keep New Zealand relevant on the world stage at the largest global event since the start of the pandemic.

Despite the pandemic, 70 companies from New Zealand were on the ground in Dubai during Expo 2020 and over 200 took part in NZTE’s Expo business and trade programmes virtually or in person. Hear from some of the businesses that were there in person and learn how they used their time in market to tap into new opportunities in the Middle East region. You will hear from ADRI, an ed-tech business that uses AI and machine learning to translate large amounts of academic literature from English into Arabic to help lift the knowledge base of the Middle East region, and from The Clinician, a company which helps healthcare businesses to digitise, and which took part in NZTE’s “Discover UAE healthcare” activities and are now pursuing several projects in the UAE
