Vision 2030 - Tech for Good

Curious about ‘Tech for Good’ and what it’s all about? Join our virtual event as Impact Hub and friends take a deep dive into Tech for Good solutions, and how Tech for Good is being progressed in Aotearoa.

During our interactive session you will be introduced to Tech for Good founders and teams as they demonstrate their tech solutions to some of Aotearoa’s most pressing problems. We’ll enjoy a discussion between our speakers on the pressing issues Tech for Good companies face.

This isn’t just an event for listeners! Our Vision 2030 series is focused on action, and so as an audience member you can expect to participate in exciting breakout sessions where you’ll get to experience & explore tech, and together we’ll be mind mapping solutions toward creating positive action.

Speakers include ...

Jannat Maqbool: an Australian-born Punjabi and mother of three based in the Waikato. She is a CPA and former CIO, holds a Masters in Digital Business, and is actively engaged in the New Zealand technology ecosystem. With a focus on leveraging technology in innovative ways to benefit people and the planet, Jannat is the Executive Director at Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand - an objective and neutral network for sharing knowledge focused on delivering solutions for advancing livability, workability, and sustainability of cities globally

Tim Ponting: the Establishment Director of New Zealand's Centre of Digital Excellence (CODE), a Dunedin-based hub that is a Kānoa-funded initiative designed to grow a sustainable game development ecosystem in the region. CODE's funding schemes support prototype, production and scaling - not just games for entertainment, but also games for good. Through this, they strive for growth in sustainable employment, pathways all the way from school through Polytechnic and University, and wider involvement from underrepresented groups such as Māori, Pasifika and women.

Kane O'Donnell: the Director of Innovation at Aware Group, a Hamilton-based consultancy specialising in AI and emerging technologies. He is passionate about how cutting-edge technology can be used to solve new and existing problems in novel ways - and his latest project uses facial recognition of Maui dolphins to help monitor and manage their hopeful return.

Elina Ashimbayeva: an Experience Designer at Ara Manawa and the Co-Founder of Storyo, which shares stories of women and gender-diverse folks in Aotearoa, will be joining us as our MC.
