World Metrology Day 2022 Celebration

The Measurement Standards Laboratory of New Zealand welcomes you to join us for our annual World Metrology Day 2022 celebration.

The 2022 theme, Metrology in the Digital Era, was chosen because digital technology is revolutionising our lives, and is one of the most exciting trends in society today.

World Metrology Day celebrates the signing of the Metre Convention in 1875. This treaty provides the international measurement system that underpins scientific research and innovation, industrial processing and manufacturing, international commerce and trade, not to mention improvements to the quality of life and protection of the global environment.

The day recognises and celebrates the contribution of all the people that work in intergovernmental and national metrology organisations and institutes throughout the year.

It's been a while since we’ve been able to welcome large customer groups to Gracefield Innovation Quarter in Lower Hutt. We see this as a wonderful opportunity for you to reconnect, to hear some informative talks, to network with other stakeholders and to tour some of our new and not so new laboratories. As usual, we plan to end the day with the Metrology Society of Australasia (MSA) networking hour.

This is a hybrid event. You may register to attend in person at Gracefield Innovation Quarter in Lower Hutt, or join virtually when it suits you.

You can find out more about the World Metrology Day celebration, and the work of the Measurement Standards Laboratory here.
