We noticed five key themes coming to the fore while working through early submissions for next year’s programme. These fall within our wider intention for Techweek’17, ‘to find local answers to global questions’, and provide some nice entry points from which to dive into the programme, both as a potential event organiser and an attendee.
Events that fall under this theme will focus on youth, education, and creating future leaders. There will be great content, new tech and plenty of discussion about how we can pave the way for future NZ brilliance on a global scale.
The Equality Gap
These events will be tackling global issues of diversity and inequality. We will be using NZ-born ideas to try to solve some of the biggest global issues, including poverty and humanitarian crises, age and accessibility diversity, and ethnicity, gender and age equity in our business ecosystems.
The Future of Food
These events are all about rethinking food systems, production and philosophies. A whole range of event types and styles will fall into this category, because the topic of food can cover everything from health and wellbeing to manufacturing and efficiency.
Events in this category are a diverse mix, with a focus on New Zealand technology and innovation and the process of taking it to the world. This will be an exciting collection of events for anyone interested in commercialising technologies and business models for sustainable global impact.
Another broad theme, these events will focus on the world around us, which will cover topics like climate change and creating healthy, physical environments to live in, but it might also feature events looking at synthetic and constructed environments.
Each event will further be categorised by the following content streams:
Showcase New Zealand’s unique technology and innovation strengths in exciting ways. These events will appeal to leaders from high growth businesses, investors, and skilled technology talent.
Build capability within NZ businesses to enable them to scale and export. These events will offer tangible outcomes that help people take on the world. We’d like these events to appeal to the next generation of thought leaders and technical experts.
Inspire New Zealanders to learn and grow. We want to see events popping up across the country that captures the imagination of those curious about technology and innovation.
Your event could take the form of:
- panel discussions
- product launches
- awards ceremonies
- networking events
If you would like to host an international speaker, showcase an exciting new product, or bring together a new community, Techweek’17 is the perfect time to do it.
