Appy Seniors: Helping Older People use Smartphone Apps

Appy Seniors helps older people use Smartphone Apps. Each session focuses on one of ten Apps that have been selected based on feedback from seniors. They include the SuperGold Card, Zoom video calling, WhatsApp, Google Maps, Online Groceries, Airbnb, Online Banking, TradeMe, Stuff, eBooks & Audiobooks. The programme also includes a ‘Getting to Know Your Smartphone’ session as this is often the first stumbling block facing seniors. All sessions are one-hour in duration and include an overview of the App as well as an opportunity for participants to download the App and start using it. Appy Seniors is delivered in selected public libraries and community organisations, wherever older people feel comfortable meeting. Contact your nearest library for details or view the Techweek22 Wellington schedule on the Stepping Up website.
